Damien Needs Help with Trans Healthcare Costs

Hey, my name’s Damien. I came out as trans a bit over a year ago, and didn’t really want to end up having to look at making a fundraiser, but here we are.

After being referred to a NHS identity clinic, I got a letter telling me my wait would be in excess of 3 and a half years for a first appointment and a similar wait for the second. At that point I knew I needed to pursue private care for my transition.

The current cost of getting the medication and blood tests I need is already a huge strain - on months where I only need to purchase medication, it’s around £80, and every 3 months when I need blood tests, that goes up by between £100 to £250. This is very difficult to maintain, and saving for the top surgery I’ll need down the line (expected to be in excess of £6000) on top of that feels near impossible.

Any and all money donated will help to either cover immediate costs of medication and blood tests, or be put into the savings account I have specifically for top surgery.

I’m happy to talk to anyone in more depth about the issues I’m currently facing - NHS blockers being a huge pain, lack of cover for trans people through private healthcare plans from work, and anything else.
