"DAMN." - A Queer Short Film About Missed Chances.

Welcome to our Fundraiser for the short film "Damn.". We are a small group of Sydney Based filmmakers who are working to bring Director Indy Jo Woodward's Vision of "Damn." to life. And we need your help to do so!

This is a human story, and an important one to tell. There are unfortunately still very few non-binary characters in media, and through this film, we hope to not only tell a beautiful story of connection and friendship but also showcase an often underrepresented part of the Queer community by authentically putting their story front and centre.

“DAMN.”: A summary.

In this Queer coming-of-age drama, a shy and introverted Bailey attends a party and unexpectedly meets Charlie, an extroverted and confident stranger. After a chance encounter, the two delve into deep and real conversation, which pushes Bailey to step out of their comfort zone and experience a night of uncharacteristic freedom and self-expression. As the evening unfolds, they get both open up, and share personal revelations on a quiet balcony. Empowered by the encounter, Bailey returns to the party with a newfound confidence and sense of self.

Indy's Story.

Hello, My name is Indy Jo Woodward, and I’m a director who has been pursuing freelance filmmaking professionally for about 2 1/2 years since graduating from The Academy of Film, Theatre and Television (AFTT) in 2022. I'm excited to share with you my latest project, "Damn." – a short film that delves into themes of identity and finding comfort in strangers through the lens of queer and non-binary characters.

From the moment I first held a camera, my passion for filmmaking has been unwavering. Whether it was creating home movies, capturing nights out with friends, or now pursuing this as my career, I’ve always known that storytelling through film is my true calling. "Damn." represents a significant step in my journey as a filmmaker.

This project is incredibly close to my heart. It’s a story about those fleeting moments and missed connections that shape who we are, told from a perspective that’s often underrepresented in mainstream media. I believe that only I can tell this story in the way it deserves to be told, and I am committed to bringing it to life with authenticity and sensitivity.

Our goal.

After completion, we hope to submit this film to multiple film festivals around Australia and internationally, notably Sydney Film Festival, Mardis Gras Film Festival, Flickerfest and Sundance.
