En el caos del 2020, resurgió un nombre del pasado, trayendo consigo recuerdos y luz. La señora Preston, mi profesora de quinto grado de hace 35 años, me contactó en medio de la pandemia. Su sabiduría a los 84 años sigue intacta, y su mensaje tiene un significado profundo.

Me dijo que vio una foto en línea y reconoció "la chispa en mis ojos", una chispa que recordaba de su aula. Comenzamos a escribirnos, tejiendo una conexión de décadas.

En un correo, compartió una historia que escribí en quinto grado. La amaba tanto que la leyó a todas sus clases en Navidad hasta su jubilación. Este año, la visité en California. Antes de despedirnos, me dio una última tarea:

1. Publicar la historia ilustrada por mi esposa, María Rosa.

2. Crear una canción, video o musical inspirado en la historia.

3. Compartir esto con el mundo antes de Navidad 2023.

Como buen estudiante, he trabajado en esto. La historia está lista, las ilustraciones brillan, y una demo de la canción espera su versión completa. Dear Friends, Family and Fans,

In the midst of the tumultuous days of 2020, a familiar name from my past resurfaced, bringing with it a flood of memories and a beacon of light. Mrs. Preston, my fifth-grade teacher from over 35 years ago, reached out during the challenging days of Covid-19. Her wisdom and warmth hadn't dimmed a bit at 84 years old, and her message carried a profound significance.

Mrs. Preston had stumbled upon a photo online, recognizing a grown man with a "certain spark in his eyes". It was a spark she remembered from my time in her classroom. Inspired by this unexpected reunion, we began corresponding, weaving a connection that spanned decades.

In one of her emails, Mrs. Preston shared a story I had written in her fifth-grade class. She confessed to loving it so much that she made it a tradition, reading it to all her classes at Christmas until the day she retired. Fast forward to June of this year when I, accompanied by my wife and mother, had the privilege of visiting her in California. Our reunion was a tapestry of shared stories from our teaching careers, a celebration of the impact educators can have on young minds.

Before bidding farewell, Mrs. Preston bestowed upon me a poignant homework assignment, a final lesson that transcends time:

1. Publish the story from fifth grade, beautifully illustrated by my wife, María Rosa.

2. Craft a musical, video, or song inspired by the narrative.

3. Share this message with the world before Christmas 2023.

Being the diligent student she molded, I've tirelessly worked on this assignment. The story is polished, the illustrations radiate with María Rosa's talent, and a demo for a soul-stirring song awaits its full rendition. A storyboard for a captivating video, seamlessly blending the essence of the story with contemporary events, is ready to unfold.
