Help a damsel in distress feel whole

I help everyone I can, give my time, energy, emotional support, and money that I can. I am a LGBTQIA+, Anti-Racist, Anti-Ableist, Anti-Fatphobic, etc. Activist, besides working full time (in the public sector, so not the greatest pay), being in a serious, committed, long-term relationship, and dealing with my own mental-health and chronic pain struggles.

 

I am also a trans woman. I suffer from gender dysphoria, and I want to get Gender Confirmation Surgery (GCS) at some point in the near future. I am super lucky that I have good insurance that will cover GCS, but I will have to cover the yearly maximum (currently $8000) out of pocket expense to be able to have surgery.

 

I am asking for help to reach that goal, in addition $5000 to cover staying in a hotel/Air BnB for ~a month after my surgery, and any incidental things that I may need while I am recovering.

 

This is really hard for me to do, as I am the one that people come to for help, I don't come to people. I have always been that person, the strongest one in the room, that others look to for help and support.

 

I am trying to learn how to be gentle with myself, and letting other people be the strong ones for me. It is OK to not always be the one with all of the answers, the hard one that people stand behind and their pain hits me to deflect some of it away from them. It's ok for me to let people help me, too.

 

I guess what I am saying is THANK YOU for helping me reach this goal. It is one step closer to my body not fighting against me at every turn, and I don't know how to express my appreciation for your contributing to this next stage in my evolution.
