Dan & Ali's Cancer journey

At the conclusion of 2024, my brother, his wife, and their family, had their world turned upside down with the news that both of them had tumours present. It became quickly apparant that Dan's tumour was a large adenoid cystic carcinoma and required immediate surgery. Ali's is in her thyroid and also requires surgery, upon which it will be tested for cancer.

In mid-January, Dan will be undergoing surgery which will entail the removal of the tumour and the surrounding affected areas, including most of his upper jaw. His jaw will be reconstructed from 3D printed material and bone from his leg, with significant facial reconstruction, then radiotherapy to follow. Following this, Ali's thyroid surgery will be completed; a more minor surgery but made all the more challenging given the additional impact from Dan's surgery prior.

We are incredibly grateful to the surgeons and hospital staff who have provided such excellent guidance, but there is no denying that an incredibly challenging journey has only just begun. With three children aged 7, 4 & 2, and a self run business to keep going, 2025 is going to be a huge year for Dan and Ali emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially.

I have started this GoFundMe because I have had so many people ask if they can contribute in some way to the medical costs that are building up. It is expected that the costs for the surgeries will be in excess of $100,000. If you feel so led to contribute to these costs, we thank you wholeheartedly.
