Dan Duchene’s Family Support
Donation protected
My name is Heather, and I am fundraising for my dear friend Dan Duchene. I met Dan through work almost 20 years ago. Dan has been with the West Sacramento Police Department for 27 years, was promoted to Sergeant and is now approaching the ripe age of retirement. Those who have the privilege of knowing Dan know that he is a kind, loving, hard-working perfectionist. He is also an amazing, thoughtful and generous friend. Dan is diligent with exercise, taking his health and fitness seriously.
Devastatingly, Dan fell ill in early October and was admitted to a local hospital. After running tests, he was immediately transferred to UCSF to undergo emergency cardiac surgery. As the surgery began, Dan's aorta ruptured, and blood supply was lost to various parts of his body. The doctors worked tirelessly to repair the damage and restore blood to his body, for which they were miraculously successful.
However, Dan has been in the ICU for over a month, on sedation and a ventilator. This has been incredibly terrifying for his family, who has supported him physically and emotionally. The presence of his family has allowed him a piece of comfort and home during the most challenging times. His family is staying in a hotel in San Francisco to be immediately available for his needs.
Next, Dan will be transferred to a long-term acute inpatient care facility as he rehabilitates and gains strength.
Dan has a long road to recovery, and with the expenses he and his family have incurred through this medical process thus far, I am inviting you to help with the costs. Please consider donating; every bit makes a difference.
