Dan and Karen Fillmore

ABOUT DAN
Dan Fillmore is one of the kindest and most loving men you will ever meet, not to mention hard-working. He has been farming since the day he was born. Dan is an incredible son, husband, father, and grandfather.

WHAT HAPPENED 
Dan and Karen, his wife of almost 50 years, have been vigilant in taking precautions to protect themselves against COVID-19 so that he could continue working at Materion until his retirement planned for later this year, however, it wasn't enough.

Dan became ill on the 4th of July and was subsequently diagnosed with COVID-19. He has been hospitalized while battling double pneumonia. The virus has caused his heart to go into an irregular heart rate called atrial fibrillation, which can cause dangerous blood clots due to blood pooling in the right atrium. Doctors have assured his family that everything will be done to ensure Dan's safe return home, whenever that may be.

While Dan was hospitalized, Karen became ill, as well; not with COVID-19, but with a severe and debilitating infection. Karen is currently undergoing medical testing and recieving medical care to figure out how to stop internal bleeding. 

HOW YOU CAN HELP
The cost of Dan's medical care is going to be both costly and on-going, due to the atrial fibrillation, among other complications, caused by the virus. Karen's medical care will also be ongoing.
