Dan Grigal's Basketball Scholarship Fund

The love of my life and the greatest father I ever could have hoped for for my children passed away last month after a 15 month battle with cancer. Dan was the best of all of us with his kind, light-hearted, funny and protective nature. His quiet strength and positivity was especially evident through this past year despite the challenges with chemo and he continued to work and coach for as long as his health allowed him too. Dan loved being a dad and nothing brought him more joy than encouraging, teaching and supporting them in the activities they enjoyed. Dan was Cole and Cami's coach in every sport they ever participated from the time they began playing until Covid put a hold on rec sports in the spring of 2020.
As a physical education teacher for the past 21 years, Dan also coached basketball for the past 19 seasons for the 8th grade team at Bridgewater Raritan Middle School, helping to build a competitive and successful program that is respected throughout the county. It was a real honor to see how many past players, co-coaches and even rival coaches attended Dan's services and it speaks to how impactful and talented of a coach Dan was. Many people have shared what an impact Dan made on their lives and their athleticism with his positivity, enthusiasm and knowledge of the game.
While this loss is immeasurable and still quite surreal for my children and I, we, along with our friends, would like to continue Dan's legacy of supporting youth basketball by creating this scholarship fund. Dan coached CYO basketball for the past 6 years for both of my children and we would like to assist children from low-income families in playing basketball by making an annual donation to the Mary Mother of God CYO program each year. We also would like to provide an annual $500 (minimum) scholarship to a graduating senior at BRHS that plans to play basketball in college.
Through GoFundMe, your non-deductible donation will help set up a scholarship fund in Dan's name so that his legacy lives on by impacting youth basketball in our community.
