Dan Loughney's Brain Tumor Fund

On April 14, after experiencing a few seizure-like episodes Dan Loughney (my nephew - John and Colleen's son) was diagnosed with a brain tumor – a Glioma – the size of a golf ball. He is currently going through testing to learn more about the tumor. The neurosurgeons at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester are hoping to remove the tumor but don’t want to permanently damage Dan in the process. There is a surgery scheduled for Friday, May 27, but we do not yet know exactly what type of surgery that will be. It is not yet known if the tumor is cancerous or not but either way, there is a chance that radiation or chemotherapy will eventually be needed especially if they cannot remove 100% of the tumor. This type of tumor is known to have a chance of returning so even if it is successfully removed, this will be a life-long concern for Dan and he might have to go through this more than once.
All funds generated through this campaign will go towards out-of-pocket medical expenses, possible cancer treatments, living expenses while Dan’s family is staying in Rochester, possibly ongoing physical and speech therapy and rent payments for Dan’s house that he is renting in Menomonie for when he goes back to school at Stout. He will not be able to work for possibly quite some time … plus his father has been out of work since last August due to a back and shoulder injury so money is very limited.
