Dan Lowry: CT Public Educator, Long COVID Patient

Hi, we are Carla and Dee, and we are hoping to raise funds for our very dear friends, Dan and Lisa.

Dan is suffering from symptoms related to Long COVID and is unable to work. For the last fifteen years, Dan has been a committed, caring teacher who went through so much during the Pandemic. He got Covid-19 not once, not twice, but three times! Dan had a pre-existing condition, as a result of contracting Legionnaires Disease in 2019, that put him at high risk, but as a teacher, he had no choice but to be there for his students.

Unfortunately, his second bout of COVID in December 2021 was the more dangerous Delta variant, and this began the multitude of symptoms that kept him out of work. Having used up all of his sick days, he had several unpaid days. He did start to see some progress and was back to work when round three hit in December 2022. This time all of his symptoms came back with a vengeance and were worse than before. As much as Dan tried to go back to work, his body just wouldn't let him. Some of his daily symptoms include:

Dan will miss close to a third of this school year, unpaid, as he is out of sick days and has exhausted every avenue with his union and the school district. He is left without enough money to pay his bills. Dan is currently under the care of ten doctors, on ten different medications, has had countless expensive medical tests and still has no answers.

Dan is an incredibly devoted and loving husband, father, brother, friend and teacher. I hope you will consider donating to help him, not only pay his bills, but also to give him peace of mind so that he can take the time he needs to rest and recover and not feel the pressure to return to school before he is ready.
