Dan Ocampo Healing and Recovery Fund

Hello friends! This is Alvin Sturdivant, Dan's colleague and friend from Seattle University. I've known Dan since the early 2000s and have provided support to him and his family during his period of recovery. Dan and his family are extremely grateful for your gifts and continued support during this very challenging time in his life.

In the early morning of Sunday November 11th, Dan Ocampo sustained a life threatening stroke while at home in Seattle, WA. Dan was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he underwent an emergency craniectomy to assist in relieving the pressure and swelling caused from the stroke and to provide his brain with the required space to heal. Thanks to the tireless efforts of his surgeons and the the Neurological ICU team, Dan came through the surgery successfully and in the passing months has been making slow but steady improvements. Dan remained in Harborview until just before the holidays when he transitioned to Kindred First Hill, a transitional hospital where he his engaged in physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Dan is the quintessential good guy, exhibiting his passion, enthusiasm, and willingness to help anyone in need whenever possible. He is a fiercely devoted brother, friend, mentor, teacher, advisor, and educator. Beloved by all who know him, there is no audience that doesn't experience the overwhelming good in Dan from first blush. At this time, we are reaching out to all of you, Dan's community, for continued good thoughts and prayers, and financial support. The many notes and cards of encouragement, YouTube videos and countless other ways you've reached out to Dan have been a significant aid in his recovery. And while Dan is making slow and steady progress, it is impossible to anticipate what the road ahead holds. As it stands, Dan spends quite of bit of time sleeping (standard for stroke survivors) and is working towards regaining his strength, mobility, and speaking ability. He is attempting to speak more consistently and has recently been able to write short sentences. Dan needs our assistance so that he and his family can focus their attention on his healing and recovery without the worry of finances. Please consider donating and supporting Dan as he navigates what is the biggest fight of his very beautiful life. We are all changed for the better for having Dan in our life so let's honor his impact with our generosity.

The funds raised have been utilized to assist with Dan's expenses associated with his residence in assisted living, the purchasing of needed supplies, and for payment of his bills as he is currently incapable of working. We continue to work with Dan and his brother and sister to assist with Dan's expenses. Thanks again for your support.
