Hello everyone! This is Taylor and friends. This summer Dana began the process of getting her deck repaired after several of the boards were showing signs of rot and one gave way while she was moving furniture. After consulting with multiple contractors, the one she chose began the process of demolishing the deck. To the contractor's surprise significant damage was caused to the home due to seeping water from the improperly built deck. The contractor discovered that the entire sill plate to the home was rotten, moldy, and in need of replacement. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom floors are also rotten and moldy. The water has also seeped and spread under most of the siding on the backside of her home. Fortunately, no one has been significantly injured from these findings, but as we all know mold can be toxic and devastating. Mold and rot will only continue to spread causing more structural damage to the house, floors and walls potentially injuring her family.
The home was inspected and approved 4 years ago when she purchased it. After filing a claim with her insurance company, Dana has discovered that due to state laws and limitations, her insurance company is only providing $10,000 for the estimated $ 80,000 in damages. She has exhausted all options to assist her with repairing her home. She has spoken to public adjusters, insurance specialists, the head of her insurance company, filed appeals with the state of Connecticut, spoken with mortgage specialists, and spoken to attorneys. Due to laws and restrictions for this type of damage, there is nothing more she can do to help her repair her home.
This situation is putting an enormous weight on Dana’s shoulders, and we are trying our best to help her carry it. Dana has dedicated her life to a career in special education where she has made a life-long impact on some of our most delicate children. She also bartends part-time to assist in supporting her family. When she isn’t teaching or bartending, she is a loyal friend and a single mom to three beautiful children. Anyone who knows Dana knows she is one of the most giving people you will ever meet!
It is our turn to help her! We are asking you to contribute whatever funds you can to a GoFundMe account so we can help her save her home and repair this issue her family is dealing with. Any contributions will be appreciated. Dana has been blindsided by this turn of events as any family would be. Dana is always there to help others in need and now it’s our turn to help her to ensure her home becomes the safe place she desires for her family. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any amount helps, and if you are unable to donate, a share would be greatly appreciated!
"Don't get tired of helping others. You will be rewarded when the time is right if you don't give up. We should help people whenever we can, especially if they are followers of the Lord" Galatians 6:9-10
