Dana Olsen Memorial

We are all heartbroken by the sudden loss our dear friend, Dana. She was one of a kind, with her quick wit, great sense of humour, intelligence and huge heart.
It's been decided by Dana's loved ones that a park bench in her name will be her memorial place. This way Dana's free spirit can be visited by family and friends whenever they like, and she remains in the neighbourhood where she grew up. The cost of this bench is approximately $6000, including the plaque.
Anyone who knew Dana was well aware of her generosity,  giving spirit and her eager willingness to step up and help those in need. She talked often of helping children of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, specifically in the area of food security. Any funds raised above and beyond memorial costs will be donated to The Strathcona Backpack Program* in her name. 
Cash donations will also be accepted at Dana's Celebration of Life to be held at the Fairview Pub on November 17th, 2019. We are hoping to close this fundraiser by November 30th, 2019.  

*This is a market-style food bank that supports up to 550 children living in Vancouver's Strathcona neighbourhood. The market provides fresh produce, dried and canned goods, and fresh tofu and eggs to families at the end of each week. This direct food support for children helps them to return to school the next week nourished and ready to learn. The donation would go towards program costs like food purchases and wages for one staff member.
