Dancing Animals - Senior Thesis Short Film

Hi, my name is John, and I'm crowdfunding for my senior thesis short film Dancing Animals.

This project is about a young woman, Julie, in a corporate dystopia, who is desperate for some kind of connection. Julie is anti-social, she's awkward, she lives alone--she decides one day to ask her work friend to be her real friend, and enlists a basic AI writing software as help plan out what's otherwise a very difficult conversation.

I started writing this project as a very frustrated reaction to recent developments in AI art. I value all art as a way to communicate with people, and it seems to me that the "promise" of a lot of artificial intelligence is to cut the love and care and humanity out of art. Dancing Animals is ultimately about a technology that damages connections between people, and what happens to our relationships when we lose interest in talking to one another.
