Dancing Feet Academy hit the Queen's Theatre stage

Dancing Feet Academy are currently planning our forthcoming show at the Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple at the end of July 2024.
At DFA we pride ourselves on offering not only exams and local performance opportunities but also a chance for students (both children and adults) to perform in a full scale production show at the Queen’s Theatre every two years.
As students will testify, this is an incredible opportunity and creates memories and friendships that people cherish forever.
This year more than ever we will need our DFA family to pull together to make this possible. As always we strive to produce a top class professional production show with professional lighting, sound, special effects and costumes, however, there is a fine line between what we want to create and also ensuring that we cover all costs. This is even more important now since Selladoor Venues now called Landmark Theatres Ltd increased their prices by almost 300%. To put this into context, the hire for our last show in July 2022 running over 4 days cost us nearly £6,000. That same hire this year is going to cost us approximately £15,000. This, of course, does not include any Sunday rehearsals or additional expenses.
That all said, not producing our usual DFA production show and taking away this performance opportunity is not something that we have even considered however, we want everyone to understand how difficult things could be this year which is why we have decided to set up a fundraising committee to arrange numerous fundraising activities, alongside a GoFundMe page and also will be contacting local businesses to ask for any support at all.
As those of you who have been involved in our previous shows or seen our DFA shows will know, an enormous amount of work goes on behind the scenes for months and months before we even get to the theatre, so ourselves and the DFA team are hoping that as a DFA family we will be able to work together to fundraise and reach out to the North Devon community to allow us to make this dream come true!
In the past, we have always donated all show proceeds to a charity close to our hearts including – Breast Cancer Care, British Heart Foundation, Devon Air Ambulance, Heartswell South West, The Children’s Hospice South West, North Devon Hospice & Ask for Jake, however, this year will be the first time that we will be unable to do this. Of course, if we manage to clear all theatre and production costs then we will make a donation to a local charity.
As a DFA family we are fundraising and doing everything in our power to raise enough funds to allow us to make this magical show possible for all of our students. Any help at all to allow us to reach our target and take to the stage is gratefully received.
Let’s now work together to create our usual DFA magic!
