A note from Nardy House CEO Denise Redmond

Nardy House is a charity that provides respite and permanent accommodation to people with profound disabilities. Therapy is part of the residents’ everyday lives and funding for full programmes often falls short of the “reasonable and necessary” NDIS criteria

Dane is a well-known local personality and an Ambassador for people with disabilities. He is a skilled athlete and runner with many kilometers of fundraising effort to add to his impressive work record.

He has raised funds for many local organisations; he was keen to raise funds for Nardy House for a long time but COVID intervened.

Dane, who has first-hand knowledge of disability, told Nardy House staff members and carers what a difference therapy had made to his life. “It gives joy and hope and I want to bring this to residents at Nardy House”

Dane described learning to talk with Speech Therapy guidance through singing.

Dane’s presentation was effective and staff at Nardy House are preparing for a staged stop at the house during the run.

Denise Redmond, CEO at Nardy House, reflected the staff members' enthusiasm for the run, “We are at the early stages of preparation and publicity for Dane’s work for us. We are delighted that Dane wants to assist the residents at the house.”

“He has an obvious rapport with all people. His enthusiasm and delight in what he does is infectious. The residents responded to him and his support staff in a very positive way”.

‘Therapy has always been a basic tenet for Nardy House. Our first campaigns related to obtaining regular therapy services for people with disabilities in the Bega Valley so Dane’s run for therapy takes us to our origins.”
