Serious rare spinal tumor surgery
I’m writing this because JT (Jeff) Goodman and Jessica Macerelli need our help. A recent series of MRI’s has revealed that Jeff has 2 tumors inside his spine. One of them is 6 inches long. This is a very rare condition called Intradural intramedullary. Local surgeons had a very bad prognosis, they knew they could not remove the entire tumor and believed Jeff would have a high probability of never walking again. Jeff is only 27 and a father of 6 month old twins, this outcome was not acceptable. Jeff’s family did extensive research and found a spinal specialist in Chicago who has agreed to take his case, and feels he can deliver a much better outcome. Jeff surgery is scheduled for September 30 at Northwestern Hospital. The surgery will take 8-10 hours and Jeff will need months of rehab including learning to walk again. His initial rehab will take place in Chicago, necessitating Jessica and his family members go back and forth to support his recovery while still caring for the twins. This has put a tremendous strain on Jeff and Jessica emotionally, physically and financially. We are hoping to lift some financial burdens so Jeff and his family can focus on his health and recovery. We thank you for your prayers and support during this extremely difficult time. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
