Support a Bernie Sanders Delegate
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Dan Hazard and I am a delegate for Bernie Sanders ( see link for credentials). Along with being a father of two daughters and one unruly dog, I am also the husband of a Bernie supporting woman and I have been working as a volunteer for the Bernie Sanders campaign since last April. It has been a wild ride and an eye opening experience. It is vital that we do all we can to make Bernie Sanders the democratic nominee and guarantee his platform has a voice at the DNC. Bernie has inspired me, as he has inspired you, to become part of the solution. I need to make it to Philadelphia to make good on my part of the deal.
My delegate campaign speech
As a delegate, I am headed to Philadelphia for the Democratic National Convention and the DNC has reserved a hotel right across the street for South Carolina delegates. As you can imagine, there aren’t many Bernie delegates in the South Carolina contingent. We are required by SCDP to stay at the hotel because delegates must be at the hotel every morning at 7:00 AM in order to receive our credentials for the day. These credentials will allow me to enter the convention and represent Bernie at the many caucuses and events. I am also there to voice our dissent and bring our platform to the Democratic Party, advancing the ideals that have inspired us to rally, volunteer, canvass, donate and phonebank for Bernie Sanders. If Bernie is to retain his delegate count, we must be there everyday. Philly is banking on this convention and it is very expensive to attend.
(My wife and Bernie meet)
Our rooms are at the Doubletree Hotel and a single room is $400 a night for five nights. Yes, $2,000 for 5 nights in Philly. All the hotels are completely booked because of the DNC.Crazy, right? Yea, I know. Parking is 30 bucks a day, and meals will cost $30 - 50 a day, but we will bring a cooler to reduce the cost of food. There is no way we can afford this, but Bernie need us and as you well know, he needs every one of us to be there, fighting for the future of our country.
[Why I fight]
[Why we fight]
I wish there were another way, but I was informed by the SCDP today that blocks around the convention center will be on lockdown due to the high number of high dignitaries with secret service who will be attending and it will be near impossible to get in by the 7am deadline each morning because everyone will have to go through rigorous security. Thanks, DNC.
The convention is July 25-28, but they want us there the night before so we are ready to go the morning of the convention so I will need to cover the hotel by then. Here is the itemized breakdown:
Room: $2000
Parking: $ 150
Food: $ 200
Gas: $ 300
Breakfast Package: $200
Lodging/food for dog while gone $100
GoFundMe Fees: $ 300
TOTAL: $3250
If I can raise these funds, it will give me the opportunity to fight in a tangible way for Bernie Sanders on the floor at the DNC, and it will help out the political revolution by placing someone in the convention who is fully committed to Bernie and his vision for America's future. We need as many Bernie Sanders delegates there who can physically be there and I am willing to do everything I can to learn from this experience, work hard for Bernie and represent the progressive ideals we have agreed are vital to the future of our country.
Together, we can make this happen. Like Bernie says, it’s not about me, it’s about us. Feel the Bern.
Peace, love, and Bernie Sanders!
