Daniel Cortes Memorial Fund

Donation protected
My name is Daisy and I am organizing this fundraiser in honor of Daniel Cortes, my younger brother and dearest friend, who died on April 28th, 2022.

Daniel was truly the kindest, most compassionate person I have ever known. He was wise beyond his years, and he used that wisdom in a gentle and nourishing way that affected everyone he met. He was a brilliant, talented, creative genius who used his gifts to try and alleviate the suffering in his immediate scope of influence and beyond. He was fascinated with philosophy and religious studies, and was constantly growing and applying his lessons directly.
He was also a gifted musician and poet. His lyrics continue to blow my mind with content that explored consciousness, collective liberation, and non-duality as a few themes. Music was a deep and loving bond he shared with his dear Mom, Ann Cortes. His friends are compiling his work but for now you can sample some of it on his SoundCloud: https://m.soundcloud.com/semanticexpansion
Daniel had a passion for social justice from a young age and always looked out for vulnerable folks. He wrote about his passion for community service and social

He was also a silly goofball whose smile and laugh was infectious. He was a refuge for so many, and helped support countless people through their trials. I’ll echo what a friend said the other day: that Daniel was someone you could just be yourself around and that you could talk to him about anything and not feel judged. He was a person who had tremendous personal pain but never threw it at anybody else. He was a cycle-breaker, a teacher, a gift. Daniel was love embodied.
In the spirit of Daniels generosity and kindness, we invite you to donate to this fund in his name.
ALL of the funds will be donated as a scholarship fund to Escuela Del Sol Montessori so that more low income families have the opportunity to attend this wonderful school. When Daniel and I were at Escuela, our family was able to secure most of our tuition by a work-trade agreement with the school. Pretty amazing. Escuela Del Sol was a refuge for Daniel and place that our family holds very dear to our hearts.
With love and gratitude and a big “heck yeah!”
