Daniel Falk Memorial Scholarship

Daniel Falk, aged 22, of Salem, NY passed away on June 27th, 2022. A quirky soul from the start, Dan lived life on his own terms. He was a talented and creative young man who loved to draw, to climb, and who adored his family. With a natural sense of right and wrong and a fierce loyalty to those about whom he cared, Dan was truly a man for others. Regardless of his own circumstances, he was always concerned about the well being of those around him. He stood up for those who could not stand up for themselves. His wonderful sense of humor, warm heart, and kindness to all made it impossible not to love him.

Dan’s zest for life and compassion for others has inspired me to create the Daniel Falk Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior at Salem Washington Academy who exemplifies the same qualities of compassion, kindness, and determination that Dan embodied.

To fund this scholarship, each year I will be participating in a challenge designed to push me beyond my comfort zone, echoing one of the qualities I admire most about my late brother.

On July 30th, 2023 I will be competing in the 70.3 Ironman in Augusta, Maine. As children, Dan and I competed together in various triathlons, and although he is no longer with us, I know he will be watching over me, cheering me on at every step of the race.
