Daniel Leonhardt - Funeral Expenses

It feels unreal typing this out, but on Thursday night, September 15th, we lost our Daniel, our “Uncle D”, our Dan The Man.
Seven months ago he was in a severe car accident that truly should have taken his life, but he miraculously was spared. And through that he had a true, dramatic change of heart and mindset, after spending nearly half his life battling his disease of addiction.
During these last seven months Daniel was on a true journey of healing—physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. He stopped isolating himself and was able to embrace and receive the love all of us had for him. He regularly sought out bettering himself in a way that he never had before and it was a huge joy to witness watching him come back to life after all his struggle with addiction put him through.
On Thursday, the day of his death, he spent hours on the phone looking for a rehab place that could take him in as soon as possible. As much as he hated returning back to drugs for comfort, he needed true professional help with the hold they had over him.
He was feeling defeated after realizing it would be months before he would be able to be taken into a good rehab homes. That night, he slipped up and ended up overdosing; on the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, and on our grandpa’s birthday (Daniel’s #1 fan). We have hope that he was ushered into heaven by Our Lady and his Grandpa.
While we are gut-wrenched with grief, we are incredibly grateful for the time we had with our Daniel, most especially for the healing we had with him during these last seven months. We appreciate your love and support during this time.

Services will be Monday, September 26th, 2022 @ St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church - 1502 Sara Rd Rio Rancho, NM 87124
Rosary/Viewing will be at 10am
Service/Mass at 10:30am
Burial will follow
