Daniel's Heart Transplant
Donation protected
Our 13-year-old son Daniel was born on April 13th, 2010. What was one of the happiest times of our lives, quickly turned into the scariest as we were told that our baby was born with "half a heart." Instead of bringing Daniel home to his brothers, he was rushed to a higher acuity hospital where he was diagnosed with COMPLEX CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE known as a Single Ventricle Defect with Heterotaxy Syndrome / Dextrocardia along with multiple other defects.
These heart defects are very serious and complex and, if left untreated, are fatal. In his short life, Daniel has already undergone several serious surgeries, including Bi-Directional Glenn Operation and Fontan Operation, in addition to other life sustaining surgical procedures.
We have always known that further life-saving medical intervention would be necessary in the future. As any parent can imagine, we prayed for health and hoped that this moment wouldn't come for a very long time. Unfortunately, to our great despair, the dreadful and gut-wrenching day has come. Our boy is in the hospital, his heart is failing... Daniel needs a heart!!
Our Heart Warrior has already been through so much in his short life. He is incredibly resistant to pain and suffering. Daniel is a tough kid and fights for us and for himself every day. We are so thankful that he is with us, that he is growing up among his brothers, that he loves going to school and enjoys life.
These surgeries will be extremely complicated. Daniel's treatments after the heart transplant will be lifelong and quite expensive. Because of the impact of the financial strain this has on our family, we are asking for any financial support possible, as we are about to take on the biggest challenge of our lives... a fight for our son's life!!!
We are beyond grateful for any and all donations, and we ask for continued prayers for Daniel and our family in this very difficult time.
Gratefully,
Daniel's parents,
