Daniel Philbin’s battle with leukemia
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Daniel’s father, Richard. In October Daniel was originally diagnosed with acute undifferentiated leukemia. He has a rare mutation, TP53m, that has reacted poorly to chemo. His diagnosis is now Acute Myeloid Leukemia. In November he was airlifted to USC where he endured 3 rounds of chemotherapy, when his cancer seemed to be resisting the chemo and getting worse it was determined that radiation would be required so he was transferred to City of Hope in Duarte. He is working toward a Bone Marrow Transplant at City of Hope in the next six weeks. He has been able to come home a few times but only for a few days before he had to be readmitted. He is currently at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, trying to keep his red blood cells and platelets from dropping to critical levels while we prepare to return to City of Hope at the end of the month to start another round of chemo and radiation to set him up for the transplant. We expect him to have to stay near the City of Hope for a couple of months following the transplant. The trips back and forth for him and the dozens of trips for the family to be with him has been especially taxing financially. Thank you for your support.
