Daniel & Rikki Boneschansker Family
Donation protected
On December 24th, my brother Daniel, his wife Rikki and their 4 children (Ages 9, 7, 5 and 3) were on their way to a Christmas Eve candlelight service while visiting family. Before they were able to arrive, they were all injured in a serious car accident, each being transported to various hospitals with serious injuries.
Although we do not have many details of the accident, the RCMP released the following statement:
"Richmond County District RCMP is investigating a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision that occurred last evening.
At approximately 5:49 p.m., December 24, RCMP, EHS and Fire responded to the collision on 104 Hwy. near Whiteside where they located a VW Golf and a Toyota van with extensive damage. Initial investigation indicates the car travelling eastbound and the van travelling westbound collided.
A 42-year-old woman, the driver of the van, required extraction from the vehicle by Fire Services with apparent life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. A 36-year-old man and 4 children ages 9, 7, 5, and 3 all suffered injury from serious to life-threatening were also transported to hospital by EHS. All occupants of the van are from Halifax. The driver of the car, 28-year-old man from New Brunswick, required extraction from the vehicle by Fire Services with apparent life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. A dog was found deceased in the car.
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
The highway has reopened after being closed for several hours."
We are asking friends and family to please consider supporting Daniel and his family during this challenging time. Some of the family is recovering in Cape Breton while Rikki recovers in hospital for 6 weeks in Halifax, requiring a number of surgeries.
There are a number of unknowns and challenges that Daniel and Rikki and family will face in the coming months. We are hoping to help alleviate the financial stress that may arise from extra travel to and from hospitals, time away from work, and unforeseen expenses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Please keep Daniel, Rikki and the children in your prayers as they move forward.
