In 2012, Daniel was in a motorcycle accident that caused him to be hospitalized for almost a year. Daniel nearly died and was left with severe brain injury and paralysis. Since this accident, Daniel has suffered several additional strokes and continues to face considerable physical, psychological, and financial challenges.
Daniel is an extremely determined and tenacious individual. He wakes up every morning at 3:00 am so that he is able to take public transportation to his job at the Texas Rowing Center and YMCA where he works to greet customers and elbow pump anyone and everyone.
While Daniel has made tremendous progress towards his long-term recovery goals, there is a finite window in which those suffering extensive brain trauma can recover. As Daniel fears this window is closing, he is even more determined to do everything in his power to recover. His goal is to one day be out of his wheelchair forever.
Nutrition and diet are key components to Daniel's recovery program. He has a strict regimen that requires specific and expensive supplements that must be taken regularly. Daniel is seeking financial assistance so that he can take these supplements during his optimal recovery window.
Day after day, Daniel proves to be the definition of persistence. Despite adversity that would cause many to give up, Daniel has an unsinkable character and faces every day with a contagiously positive attitude. He is certain that with the financial assistance to complete his diet program, he will be one step closer to reaching his goals of being able to walk without his wheelchair and regain cognitive abilities.
