Danielle and her kids fix their home

I was hesitant to do this because I hate asking for help, but with some support of friends am swallowing my pride and reaching out for my kids.

Over the past few months our ceiling started caving in. We have roughly a 6 foot hole in our kitchen ceiling. We found out water was getting into the walls and ceiling through the tub. I couldn’t afford the quote of 10k I was given, so I spent a good chunk of what money I had saved and we fixed it ourselves.

We knew it wasn’t great but thought it was good enough to sustain. A few weeks ago more of our ceiling under the upstairs toilet started crumbling and water was coming out through our electrical sights.

After having 2 quotes, we found out it will be $7475 to fix this issue. We currently are in a home with 7 people and no upstairs bathroom use as the tub and toilet could both fall through the ceiling. (We are using the shower, but with extreme caution and as needed only). There has to be a bunch of plumbing and some electrical work done. First, all new sub floors and walls need to be put in to support every thing.

The quoted cost is to fix the electrical, drainage, new tub and side walls and reattach the toilet. It does not include the mold clean up, painting over the mold clean up, cosmetics, or anything extra. That we will do on our own.

I have looked for help over the past week through my union and other options, none of which panned out. I cannot get a loan at this point, but am hoping if I can at least figure out how to pay the $4000 needed to get the project started, I can find loan funding to cover the remaining costs.
