Danielle's Road to Recovery after Stroke

Donation protected
On Saturday September 3rd, Danielle had another stroke and was readmitted to the hospital where they found bleeding in her brain and had to do another emergency surgery, this time on her occipital lobe. Prior to surgery Danielle had forgotten who many of us, her family, were due to the pressure from the blood. She is now resting and recovering post surgery and we are waiting to get to the bottom of what's causing the continued strokes. Please continue to send good vibes, positive thoughts, and prayers. Danielle needs all the help she can get right now.

On June 30th, Danielle was an adventurous 26-year-old woman living with lupus. While she had to make many lifestyle adjustments because of her condition, she took it in stride and approached each day with a positive mindset. She was active, hardworking, and loved her friends and family while never taking life for granted. On July 1st, her life changed. Danielle suffered a stroke in her brain stem that resulted in multiple complications which have kept her in the hospital for months. This devastating ordeal has left her with intense pain and unable to walk on her own.

The day before her birthday, Danielle suffered another stroke (subarachnoid hemorrhage) which required brain surgery to control the bleeding. She is making great progress during her physical therapy sessions and is looking forward to spending time honing her life skills in physical therapy.

Since her first stroke, Danielle has had to endure a litany of tests, blood draws, transfusions, a 6-hour ambulance ride, a bone marrow biopsy, and most recently another stroke & brain bleed. She is also dealing with intense pain and numbness in her feet and knees making it difficult to walk and care for herself. Despite all the pain and discomfort, Danielle continues to have faith and look for small wins to keep her going.

Although all of these complications have completely changed what her day-to-day life looks like, Danielle is determined to persevere and regain everything she has lost. Even her care team is in awe of her persistence. Doctors and nurses have commented that they have never seen someone with so much willingness to fight through pain for a better future.

The next couple months are the most imperative to her recovery. Once she leaves the hospital, she’ll be transferred to an intensive rehab facility to continue building up her physical abilities. The goal of this fundraiser is to help ease the financial burden that these medical bills have put on her, allowing her to focus entirely on her recovery.

Thank you for supporting Danielle and helping her return to her normal life!
