Injury car accident mess

I had a fairly serious injury car accident, and have fallen on hard times and am in need of some help just to get back on my feet. My injuries have left me unable to work for a while until my body heals.
My name is Daniel Proctor. I'm a graduate of a top university in Pasadena, CA. I was relocated to Saint Louis, MO by a company, then was laid off when they lost the clients I was hired to work on. I have spent my whole life working as an advertising photographer, but the past two years I've been waiting tables, which I haven't done sine 1987.
I was on my way to a doctor's appointment two weeks ago Monday morning at 9:45 am, and took a blind turn to find a Bobat tractor just sitting there in the road. No cones, no guy with a flag, no warning whatsoever. I had no chance, and crashed right into the tractor. I now have broken bones in my hand, and a fracture in my back. I have no health insurance, and the state of Missouri is not the kindest when it comes to social services.
The good news is I have a corporate recruiter that's very interested in finding me a "real" job, but the bad news is I need a little time to heal, and I need to put some materials together to market myself, so he's waiting on me. I was barely able to make a payment to keep my website up, which is danielproctor.net .
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My car was a 1989 Volvo 240, which I really loved, was totalled. I'm not a fancy guy, just trying to survive.
I would be so grateful for any help at all. I could end up in a homeless shelter next month.
