Dan Croskery (aka Danno, Dan the Man, Bucky) was the stalwart of the overnight of the former Holiday Inn Sarnia/Point Edward. For 39 years he almost never called in sick and always held down the hotel overnight; no matter what challenges arose. If you opened or closed at the hotel for the last 39 years, Dan was undoubtedly one of your favourite people.
Dan fell ill within the last year, with what would be diagnosed as pancreatic cancer. Due to some complications he was unable to take chemotherapy; but fought a short courageous battle. As testament to his nature he worked up to July to support his family.
Dan was taken from us on Thursday October 15th.
Dan sadly leaves behind the love of his life Jackie. Every time you saw them together you could see the love they had for each other in their eyes.
This fund is being set up to help Jackie with any expenses that arise in her life without Dan. All funds will be made payable to her.
We’ve set the target at $2,000; however anything is appreciated.
Despite having been gone from the hotel for a decade now; I’ve taken on the role of organizing this fundraiser. Mainly because he was in my life from my earliest memories since my mom was an alumni. We had a friendship of decades that was both professional and personal. When I got overwhelmed with a DIY project and needed help; he came and bailed me out.
If you spent anytime as a co worker, friend or guest of Danno the Manno, please consider making a donation. Alleviating some financial burden will undoubtedly help Jackie with one of the most difficult periods of her life.
