Danny and Emily's IVF Journey
Donation protected
We are about to begin our third round of IVF and would greatly appreciate any help you could give.
If you don't know us, hello! Danny and I are both theater actors living in NYC. We've both been performing and living here for 17 years. We met just before the shutdown in 2020, while playing opposite one another in a two day reading where he was Gene Kelly and I was Judy Garland. He asked me out on the last day of the reading on the uptown local train platform at 34th street. (I accidentally gave him the wrong phone number, but we figured it out.) We fell hard for one another, weathered the pandemic, and got married in June 2022. We started trying to get pregnant right away, and when things were taking longer than we expected we started seeing a fertility specialist. Since then we've tried three rounds of IUI and two rounds of IVF.
In our most recent conversation with our doctor he told us that he is still very confident IVF will work for us, it's just a matter of "stamina."
Well.
As soon as he said that I heard Chumbuwumba start playing in my head. I heard Johanna Gleason saying "Do we want a child or not?" I reminded myself that Danny and I both are pavement pounding artists, with stamina in droves. And I am I holding on to hope.
Each round of IVF is about 15,000-20,000 including medication and almost never covered by insurance. (Including Cigna through Equity.) I am immensely proud that we've been able to finance our journey for the last year. But if we're going to keep going, we could use some help. The goal is big, but I know our support system is strong. And anything you could give to help us would mean the world. Please help us keep trying.
Love,
Danny and Emily
