DANNY NEEDS A BREATHER

His smile is captivating! He radiates warmth! His faith is unwavering! His heart is so tender!
He is a fighter!
Danny Huml battled and BEAT Ewing sarcoma when he was 8-years-old. Now, at 28, Danny is once again in a battle for his life. He had a pesky cough that would not go away. Suddenly, he couldn’t climb stairs without losing his breath. After a battery of tests at UW Hospital, Danny learned that he had idiopathic pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis. Say THAT three times fast or even once slowly. IPPFE, for short, is an ultra-rare lung disease. It’s a form of pulmonary fibrosis, which means the lung tissue is hardening and becoming useless.
Danny’s only chance of survival is a lung transplant. He endured a week of rigorous testing, and it was determined that he be placed on the transplant list.
We’ve already witnessed Danny’s tenacity to beat the odds, and we have no doubt that he will do it again! Countless loved-ones have asked, “What can we do to help?” Well, those of you who know Humls, know all to well that taking help does not bode well with this group! After somewhat of a smack-down (gentle and loving, but a smack-down nonetheless), we received permission from a disgruntled patient to post a Go Fund Me page.
Obviously, Danny won’t be able to go back to work for quite some time after the procedure, and the costs for the transplant, temporary housing after the surgery to be closer to the hospital and follow-up treatments are astronomical.
If it makes you feel any better, Danny Huml, this page isn’t really for you... It’s for those of us who want to help but have no idea HOW!! Thank you so much for allowing US to feel good about helping someone we love so much! We are with you, Danny❣️ We can only believe that God and Josh are hatching a plan to get you back on the softball field next summer❤️ Let’s do this!
For more information and periodic updates, Danny’s amazing fiancée, Stef, has been writing an incredible blog about their journey:
