Danny Plata ER Nurse
Donation protected
Thank you to all who have offered prayers and support for me and my family during this difficult year. Unfortunately, my family and I have had to face the reality of America’s broken health care system. My lengthy ICU stay and lingering effects of COVID have left my family and I with emotional scars and medical bills that have accumulated rapidly. I’ve been out of work for 16 months now and the lost wages due to oxygen-dependency have really taken its toll in my financial ability to support my family. Anything and everything will help, thanks.
Hi Everyone,
Danny Plata, one our colleagues from the Chula Vista ED, needs our help.
We are sponsoring a PTO donation drive and supporting his GoFundMe campaign for him and his kids.
He got COVID from a work exposure in December 2020.
His is an amazing story of strength and survival, but he’s still struggling and is asking for our help.
Danny’s Story:
He contracted COVID-19 in December 2020.
Danny was on a ventilator for 50 days and on ECMO for 65 days.
We’re told that he was the first patient to ever ambulate while on ECMO.
Danny left the hospital in April 2020 on a nasal cannula.
He is still on O2 24/7, and isn’t yet able to return to work.
His story made national news and was hailed as a HEALTH CARE HERO RECEIVING CARE FROM HEALTH CARE HEROES by Sharp internally and via the local news.
As Danny continues to struggle with the lasting physical damage and PTSD from his ordeal, he’s also struggling to take care of his family and cover his basic living expenses with the significantly diminished income from Worker’s Comp.
PLEASE JOIN US in supporting Danny’s by giving to PTO donation drive and GoFundME campaign, and sharing it with others on your own page.
