Danny's new liver

Donation protected

A note from Dan’s wife Laurie:

First of all I want to thank everybody who is considering to donate to my husband’s go fund me account and for your thoughts and prayers Especially prayers. This is extremely hard for to write this as I am a very private person.

My husband Needs a liver transplant

About 35 years ago he was diagnosed with hepatitis C, the type of hepatitis he had was the hardest to cure. He went through many treatments that made him very sick. And some seemed to work but then it came back. Three years ago he went on the latest medication and got cured. Through all those years his hepatitis damaged his liver and he has stage four liver cirrhosis . his liver functions have been functioning well considering all the damage. Towards the end of March this year 2020 we found out that he had liver cancer.

We both have wonderful supportive families. I come from a family of nine. My parents are no longer with us and I have lost three sisters and my mother from cancer. So when I heard this news my mind could only go one place.

And then when we heard the doctors plan, I realize that this whole nightmare could go away. And he can live a long healthy new life. And I will only believe that everything will go as planned. With a successful outcome.

My husband and I been married 39 years this August 20 years into our marriage with a miracle from God We were able to have a beautiful daughter. Which at that point I didn’t think was in the cards. She is now 19, and is going into her second year in college I have to tell you my husband is amazing, he is extremely hard-working and none of this has stopped him from taking care of his family.

And our daughter is just like her father she is amazing and does not allow her condition to interfere with her life.

One of Danny’s doctors have said lately that he’s the healthiest sick person they’ve ever known.

I am so grateful that my husband has this opportunity to get a new liver. And that is his attitude he’s looking forward to it and having a healthy new liver.

And we are so grateful for the amazing doctors at Lahey Clinic that’s been taking care of him.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for even just your prayers in our situation and anything that you can donate to help our incredible expenses we currently have and a head of us. on the long road to recovery.

A note from daughter Elizabeth:

My mother stayed home to raise me as my father went to work. The few moments of the day I spent with him consisted of early morning cartoon watching, and later on stargazing. Often, unable to sleep, he drove me around in his truck until I dozed off, playing ballads from the CDs he kept in the car. Queen became my lullaby. Every moment with Dad growing up felt like sunshine.

Needless to say, he is a hard worker. As a father, he offers unconditional love and support and in return for his compassion and dedication he does not ask for much. We are incredibly privileged, but we struggle with money. My father and I both have chronic health conditions that cause us financial strain, and we are in need of support for his transplant. If you’re able, our little family would appreciate any donations you could make. <3

A note from sister Tenley:

I am asking for your help for my brother, Dan Westbrook who is facing the battle of his life. Dan is an amazing family man, friend, and co-worker from Portsmouth, NH who has touched many lives over the years with his generosity and kindness. He is undergoing necessary procedures at Lahey Clinic to combat liver cancer, to be followed by a liver transplant--which will leave him (after insurance) with a financial burden of over $65,000. As you can imagine, this is a terrible strain on Dan and his family. He truly needs our prayers, our support, our encouragement! I want to thank you in advance for your help and may God bless each and every one of you!
