Dear friends,
It is an honor to have been asked to represent an amazing group of people who are very concerned about Danny Bade and want to help. Our friend Danny is in need and we want to spread the word.
I received a call today from Tim Cordle. He told me that Danny is back in his home town of Villa Grove, IL, where he was admitted to the same hospital in which he was born. Danny had some health issues in the not too distant past including the removal of his gall bladder. But this is different. He had been complaining of abdonimal pain but as he was uninsured, was unable to go to the doctor until he could no longer ignore it.
When he was admitted, cancerous lesions were discovered in his colon. Doctors have removed half of his colon but of greater concern is that they have found spots on his liver. The word I have gotten is that there may not be any viable treatment for Danny. We are waiting to hear and are absolutely positive and holding out hope that there is a cure for this. But Danny is 'every man'. Danny is one of the hardest working dealers we know in the antique business. He is a regular at the Scott Antique Market where he is so well loved. Most of our core group of dealer friends have known him for 20+ years. Danny is our family. Danny *is* us, and is an icon in this business.
But not unlike so many of us, Danny is uninsured. He has expenses to worry about and when he is not working, no money is coming in. This is where we, as a band of friends we call 'family', come in. We can donate what we can, send our prayers and love and be there for him as he fights this fight. Let's grasp hands and circle around him, and show him how much we love him in whatever way we can.
I will be posting updates as I can get them. I hope to be able to talk with Danny on the phone. Tim will be the link as well. It's all of our hope that Danny's parents, Madeline and Phillip Bade, will also receive our support and love through this fund.
If anyone has a picture of Danny, please forward it to me. I have one of him in one of the fur coats he was selling one cold morning on the pavilion. I can't seem to find it in my computer, but those of you who know him can picture him in your heart, I just know it.
P..S as most of you know, I was in a somewhat similar position this past summer. I was in ICU with a lapse in my insurance coverage, facing possible removal of my colon or worse. It's my great honor to be able to help pay forward the love, support and donations that were shown me in my time of need. Those of you in our family of dealers know that we have one another's back, and I'm so grateful for every one of you. xoxo G
