danielle’s transition fund

Donation protected
hello! my name is danielle and i am a trans woman, as well as a researcher and poet currently living in london, and i am trying to raise funds for gender affirming surgeries and procedures.

if you're reading this, thank you! simply being on my fundraising page means more to me than you will ever know.

in november of this year, i began my medical transition. this was a monumental step forward in my transition journey as i had, at this point, been socially transitioning for three years and had yet to receieve any support in my medical transition. every single day i looked in the mirror and i saw someone that wasn't me staring right back out at me. i know it's such a cliché thing to say, but it came to a point where i know longer felt able to continue. beginning hrt (hormone replacement therapy) has helped me in so many ways. i feel a lot more grounded and secure in my body and identity and i finally am beginning my journey to be the person i have always been.

however, hrt can only do so much. every day, my gender dysphoria affects me often to the point where i am unable to perform day to day activites. one of the main ways to combat gender dysphoria is through the alteration of physical appearance via procedures and surgeries. if i could wave a magic wand and wish all of my woes away, i would, but accessing these procedures is a genuine way for me to alleviate my often crippling dysphoria.

access to gender-affirming healthcare via the NHS is essentially non-existent, and for someone like me, who is an immigrant in a country where they are unable to access finance beyond the payment of their degree programme, the only option is to turn to other means of financing this journey. i work a part-time job as a bartender, and this allows me to pay my bills, stock my fridge and buy my hormones, as well as attempt to put some money away to save for some of these procedures. however, as the days go on, my dysphoria does not go away and it is becoming more and more difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. every single day, i am exhausted from trauma that i have carried my whole life and these procedures would greatly relieve this exhaustion and allow me to feel comfortable in my own self.

trans people are facing an unprecedented emergency and it is up to those who can lend a helping hand to do so. throughout this process, i will be sharing lots of gofundme's alongside my own to give you some inspiration.

in creating this go-fund me, i hope to be able to gather donations however big or small to contribute towards this healing fund. i wish to primarly undergo facial feminisaiton surgery as well as pursuing laser hair removal and cosmetic surgeries to help feminise my face, alongside setting up networks and information for other trans folks who are in similar situations to me. with your help, love and support, i believe i can do it :)

lots and lots of love forever,

dan <3
