Dante’s Surgery Bill
Donation protected
Dante is a 2 year old Husky that I rescued as a puppy and on September 9 I noticed he didn’t rush toward me to greet me with my other dogs when I got back home from work. I went to look for him and he isolated himself in his igloo dog house. I noticed throw up on the floor that looked very strange. Once I took him out of his house he stood in a very weird hunch position and didn’t want to eat but still drank water. I thought he had eaten something that was spoiled so I decided to take him to the vet the next day. The vet came back to us in the waiting room showing us x rays of Dante’s bladder containing small ballpoint pen sized stones that formed in his bladder causing it to infect/clog him up and not let him urinate. His bladder was extremely full so they had to put a catheter in him and drain out all the urine. The vet came back with syringe samples of the urine and they were full of blood saying that his infected bladder was almost to the point of bursting and started leaking into other organs and had to be operated on right away. So we scheduled a surgery appointment for the next day since they weren’t a 24/7 vet clinic but that night Dante started to look even worse that he stopped responding to me so I rushed him to a 24/7 emergency vet clinic to have him operated on. The vet there told me his bladder was in such bad condition that his chances of living would be 50/50 and asked me if I wanted to proceed with the surgery or go with the euthanized route. I couldn’t bare thinking of Dante having a short life and told the vet to proceed with the surgery. Hours later I got a call back from the vet saying the surgery was successful and wanted to keep him there to see if can urinate by himself. Later that night I got phone call from the vet with bad news saying Dante had one more stone stuck in his baculum (penis bone) and would have to undergo a 2nd surgery. I agreed to the fees and told them to proceed. Finally a day later they gave me good news of Dante and said I could take him home. From taking him to 2 vets and staying 4 nights at the emergency clinic, to having 2 surgeries and all the care/medication/xrays, my bill totaled over $9k+. Thank you for reading, I will be grateful for any amount received. And if you aren’t able to donate, sharing this link would be greatly appreciated.
