Dan and Irina Udrea moved to Malta seven years ago from Romania in search of a better life. And they found it. They found a great job that they both loved. They had two beautiful sons Edy three years old and Oli only six months. They were planning on buying an apartment and settling in for good. They finally found the place they were happy.

It has to be a joke, it is impossible, I cannot believe it, just a few of the myriad of thought racing through your mind when you read the text message at six am in the morning: “Dan died.” It is hard to imagine that someone could be taken from this world so suddenly.

Dan and his wife Irina were going to work on the weekend. He told his mother that it would not take that long and that she should not worry. Despite the raging storm outside, he and Irina made that trip countless times. Moreover, their two sons, Edy and Oliver, were waiting for them at home. There was no way he would not return to them in few hours.

It still seems impossible for all the pieces to align in such a way that the falling tree would strike the car traveling at forty miles an hour. Dan had no chances to avoid it as the tree hit his vehicle from behind, crushing him instantly. His wife Irina was saved out of the wreckage of the car and taken to the hospital with an open skull injury. Dan was pronounced dead at the scene.

All their dreams hopes were crashed this morning February 10th at 6:30 AM. Today doctors closely monitor Irina for complications from her skull injury and the family has to find the way to repatriate Dan's body back to Romania and arrange the funeral.

We are respectfully asking you to provide financial support to the family to pay for the repatriation, transportation, funeral and medical expenses. We also invite you to support his wife Irina Georgeana Udrea, and her infant and toddler, who are left without a father.
