Daraja Mbili public medical clinic in Arusha
We (Jessica, Amélie, Karina) are volunteering as medical students and nurses at a public hospital that is located in a poor area of Arusha. There is a huge demand for care and very few supplies or basic technology at this hospital that are detrimental to their health. Often times they cannot afford or receive the most basic of care because they run out of supplies such as vaccinations, syringes, gauze, gloves etc). Infectious disease claims many innocent lives here across the life span. This public hospital consists in treating and examining HIV, wound infections, malaria, TB, pneumonia, STDs, typhoid fever, parasitic infections and labour and delivery. They only have one delivery room with three beds next to eachother which often can be occupied by many women at the same time as you can imagine it is no where near the standard of care that we are used to back home. Our goal with this fundraiser
is to raise money to provide them with an abundance of medical supplies and we would like to buy something for them that they can continue to use that is sustainable for the long term. We will be posting our daily journey and interactions on social media so you can see exactly what the funds will be going to. We will also includea price list of medical supplies which are in Tanzanian shillings! Thank you for paying it forward.
