Darcy Lawhon aka King Acee Heart Transplant

My name is Darcy Lawhon, stage name NBB King Acee. I am a rap artist and event promoter who shows to promote upcoming artists. I’m 26 years old and currently battling end stage heart failure. I was born with a medical condition called Dextrocardia. I’ve undergone 7 open heart surgeries and have had 3 strokes. I am unable to work due to my illness, which often leaves me weak and low in energy. On a good day, when I’m energized, I spend my time writing and recording music, and bonding with my family. I have a 3 year old daughter, Alora, who means everything to me and keeps me going. Most days, I suffer from severe chest pain, and every other day I retain swelling in my face, legs and stomach due to built up fluid. I go out and Doordash when I have the strength and I take my babygirl to school. I recently was under care of The University of Minnesota Hospital, being evaluated for a heart transplant at Mayo Clinic - Rochester, where I was ultimately denied for transplant. Doctors directed me to relocate to Los Angeles, California to seek better medical care and a heart transplant, a procedure I desperately need in order to continue living a healthy life. However, after packing my entire life up, leaving behind my family, and arriving in Los Angeles, I, again was denied medical care by the institution. Throughout this long journey, I have visited countless doctors who have thrown me off, time and time again, to the next doctor or institution. Every time, in the end, I’m left sick, lost and fighting for my life. This journey has been very difficulty for me financially, physically and mentally. Dealing with my condition has really broken me In ways I can’t explain. My mental health is a wreck, I can’t afford to have a better diet or get better treatment for medical care because I am unable to work, and I am constantly being pulled away from my family. I’m currently looking into moving, possibly to a different state again, to try again for better care. I’m lost on where I’ll go next, but I can’t stay where I’m at now. My family is in Minnesota and I travel back and forth to be near my daughter. However, the cold conditions in Minnesota makes everything even more difficult for me. I’ve been seeking a heart transplant for almost 10 years now and I’m mentally and physically drained and exhausted at this point. Having a better financial standpoint will help me tremendously with accessing medical care as well as be able to have a better diet, maintain much needed exercise, and continue to live a healthier life, for myself and for my family.
