Darcy makes World Cheer Championships in Orlando!

Hi, I’m Charlie and mum to Darcy! Her cheer squad have qualified for World Championships in Orlando 2025! She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 5 which completely changed all of our lives. However, I’m a firm believer in not letting it stop her from doing anything!!

She goes through so much everyday and although I try to keep her the same as any other child there are things I can’t control. Like play dates or sleepovers, clubs and activities. These all need planning in advance and a trained diabetic with her at all times.

She is one hell of a girl and takes everything in her stride. The pump changes every 3 days, Dexcom every 10 days, finger pricks, hypos, hypers along with life as a 9 year old!!

Qualifying and competing in Orlando is beyond amazing and I’m so proud of her and the team. It’s completely reinforced what I’ve always said to her that she can do anything!!!

As amazing as this is, it comes at a cost! Her coach has organised the flights accommodation etc for all participants which is £1500 per person.

At a time when everyone is feeling the effects of the cost of living I appreciate raising £3000 is going to be tough. However, I can’t let Darcy down now and the thought of her missing this once in a lifetime opportunity because of my financial situation is unbearable.
