Darlene Morgan needs our support!

Who can say why these things happen but happen it did and it has happened to our dear friend, Darlene Morgan.

Darlene has had hip pain for years and a recent x-ray showed that her joint was bone on bone. On March 14th, she opted for a steroid injection in her right hip joint to relieve the pain. However, over the next few days, she spiked a fever and was experiencing excessive pain in the injected hip. On March 17th, she was immediately admitted to the hospital with an internal joint abscess and on the brink of septicemia. She quickly underwent a surgical procedure to clean out the hip socket, which left a 6 inch incision in her groin, and was then hooked up to a drain to keep removing the infected fluids. The doctors tested the cultures and eventually diagnosed her with MSSA (methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus), a strain of staph bacteria. Doctors then placed a long term IV in her arm (called a PICC line) and estimate that she will need another 2-3 months ofhigh doseIV antibiotics.

Darlene’s been in the hospital for nearly a month now dealing with significant pain and possibly a damaged or inflamed nerve. As one can imagine, this was all very unexpected and Darlene has a long road to recovery ahead of her. She still has very limited mobility and can only get around using a walker or wheelchair, she cannot do most daily tasks on her own (e.g. showering, going to the bathroom, etc.), she’s unable to drive for the next 30+ days. Now that she is finally discharged from the hospital, she requires at home care to continue the recovery process.

Unfortunately, Darlene’s current job is with a contract agency that places her in hotel sales positions around the country. As a contractor, she doesn’t receive benefits, PTO, disability, etc. No work means No pay, making this ordeal a major strain financially. This has all been very difficult for Darlene and I feel it’s really important for her to focus on getting her strength back, without the added stress of financial worry. As such, I decided to create this GoFundMe page so people can help and donate towards helping get Darlene back on her feet. Every dollar helps and no donation is too small.

Please keep Darlene in your prayers and thank you so much for your support. She has some serious physical stepping stones to cross before she is able to be her driven, independent, ever so cheerful self again, but I know we can all help her get there!
