Darlene Stumpf Emergency Housing Needs

Donation protected
Our dear friend and neighbor, Darlene Stumpf, has been a familiar face for decades at our local Farmer's Market. She also runs Chicken Scratch Farm & Bakery, for many years selling on the honor system from her home. If you are a customer, it is common to find that "extra" cookie or bowl of soup you "must try" tucked into your sack as a gift from this big hearted Lady. Our friend is facing the unimaginable - and we're reaching out for any help our Community can give.

She has lived on the same farm since the age of four; at adulthood she moved to the 2nd home on this property belonging to her parents. It has been understood and agreed upon that the family property would someday become Darlene's and remain her lifelong home.

Darlene's Mom, Dolly, passed unexpectedly in 2019 and had all intentions of Darlene taking over the family homestead someday - but the paperwork was not completed. The unimaginable has happened - Darlene's section of the property is up for sale, and she has been served with eviction papers to be out by March 31st, 2021. This eviction not only displaces Darlene but also her beloved farm animals and fur babies, as well as a lifetime’s worth of household possessions.

True to her heart, Darlene’s first concern is her family of animals, but housing and other needs are crucial. This terrible circumstance leaves her entire future hanging in the balance. If she is unable to secure another farm, she is faced with rehoming beloved animals, and giving up her passion of serving her neighbors delicious food and hand crafted items.

Financial help is imperative to give options for housing, moving, legal expenses, and most importantly animal care.

We are reaching out to our fellow neighbors for help during this incredibly difficult time. If you have encountered Darlene at the Farmers Market or enjoyed her “from scratch” meals, then you understand why she is such a vital person in this community.

Our hope is to receive enough donations for Darlene to relocate in the community she calls home. This would let her continue her life passion of serving her neighbors the delicious home cooked meals they have grown to love.

Thank you - and if you could spread the word to our neighbors, we thank you kindly.
