Help Darrens wife Cope with her loss
Donation protected
On Sunday 21st May, three of us went out for a ride around the fantastic roads in SEQ. We rode Mt Mee, Woodford, Maleny, Kenilworth, Mapleton, back to Maleny, and back through Woodford. The ride ended abrubtly when a car driving on the wrong side of the road ploughed into my friends Darren and Matt (I was - I still don't know how - able to swerve out of the way). Darren lost his life on this day, and Matt is in the hospital and will be for some time.
Darren and his wife SJ were on the holiday of a lifetime, visiting and staying with friends for 3 months here in Brisbane, with plans to travel much of Australia.
Sadly, SJ will never forget her time in Australia, although for all the wrong reasons now.
Many people have offered consolences and their kind thoughts and I know for sure that these are all appreciated.
SJ will be here for a few weeks yet, to get things sorted out here. She is well looked after and wants for nothing. We would like to raise some money towards bringing her son over from the UK, for support reasons but also so that SJ isn't flying home on her own.
Please consider any donation, all will be received with love and the kindness with which it is offered.
In addition, I will also be organising a "Ride for Darren" around the 8th July. The plan at this stage will be to:
Ride to Dayboro to gather. Then ride up and over Mt Mee, through Woodford then to Mary Cairncross Rd looking out over the glasshouse mountains. We will gather close to the Maleny end, park up and have a minutes silence for a fallen rider. I have not organised rides like this before, if anybody would like to help please reach out. One of us with organise for SJ to be up there.
