Darrin’s Fight: Surgery and Support

Hey guys! I’m writing this on behalf of a very dear friend of mine, Darrin Hecimovich.

Darrin is known for a lot of things. Mostly his ability to turn a difficult situation into a hilarious story, but also the unconditional love he has for all his friends and family. Darrin is the type of friend that finds you at some of your darkest hours and assures you that he is a safe space that is willing to be there for you, free of judgement and full of love. He simply wants to see his tribe happy and laughing.

On November 14th, 2024, our buddy Darrin went to see the doctor to inquire about a nonstop kidney pain, and it was then discovered that his appendix was inflamed, and had to be removed immediately. During that process, they discovered a cancerous mass that has leaked into his right colon, and now that will need to be removed as well.

Darrin is a single father, and raises his children all while living paycheck-to-paycheck. This surgery will put him out of work for quite some time, and the medical bills will undoubtedly be a setback- not to mention the other expenses of everyday life. He resents the idea of asking for help, however I’ve assured him that asking for help is not a sign of weakness- but rather a request that we come together as a community to show support in any way that we are able. He understands that times are tough. Sharing this is extremely valuable to the cause as well.

Darrin is a hard-working, charismatic goof that has dug me and many others out of some dark times. So, I thank you if you’ve read this far, as it helps me return the favor to a very loved member of our community.
