Darryl (Pookie) Wiggins

It is with extreme sadness and shock we announce the untimely and tragic passing of Darryl Lawrence Wiggins. Darryl recently obtained his dream job in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Darryl just started living his best life, enjoying his friends and family, and spreading warmth and joy to everyone surrounding him. Sadly, on September 5, 2022, Darryl had severe complications from an unexpected surgery. His family and close friends surrounded him as he passed on. Darryl was an amazing father, husband, uncle, son, and friend to all the people he touched during his lifetime. His loyalty, compassion, smile, laugh, and company will be irreplaceable as we say goodbye to him. Darryl loved spending quality time with his wife, Betsy, and their children (Makenzie (18), Jaylen (11) and D.J (Darryl Jr, who is almost 4), Mother Lora, extended family, and lifelong friends.

We need all the support and prayers for our family as we continue our journey to learn this new environment. At a time when we need to be able to grieve, we are instead scrambling to figure out how to survive now that he is in heaven. There is no doubt the struggle will not end with just raising money, but it’s a kick start to one thing our family would not have to worry about now. Please find it in your heart to donate anything to support his family.
