Dash Needs Your Help: Support His Recovery

The end of 2024 wasn't in favor for Dash who suddenly lost the use of his hind legs. During Christmas our male dog Dash was playing too hard with his sisters at our mom's and started having issues. Initially, we thought he just ate too many treats and bones. He seemed only to have an upset stomach and was tender to the touch. Though, we decided he needed to see a vet since the 'stomach ache' wasn't going away. He was taken in to have an X-ray. Which they saw nothing wrong and was just a minor disc issue based on the X-ray and sent home with some steroids, pain meds and "bed rest".

With a number to call if he lost feeling in his legs in case anything went wrong.

Seems he was actually having a severe issue with his spine from his playing on Christmas. Needing surgery to prevent permanent paralysis.

As of now, he has had an MRI. They have said he will be fully able to walk with the worst case being he will need wheels to support his legs.

Update: Dash has gone through spinal surgery. He has feelings in his paws and tail, with a 80% chance of Full recovery. Requires 4-6 weeks of recovery time with restricted movement.

Update: Dash has full control of bowel movement now. The Vets say Dash is going to be sent home this weekend after watching him for the next day or two! Though we will have to help him with a catheter since his nerves are still recovering.

Update 1/4/2025: We have Dash home now from the surgery. He will be sleeping in his bed for the next 2 weeks until sutures are removed from his back. He is happily able to drink water and eat food with no issues.

Update 01/01/2025: Dash has been resting well. He has been letting us know when he doesnt want to poop in his bed by giving us the cutest little woofs saying "i dont want to poop where i sleep."

We were able to pay the initial payment of his surgery! Thank you!
