Dash Of 92

Hi, welcome to my fundraising page.

Between 8th - 16th April 2022, myself (Sam) and three colleagues (Evo, Shaun and Az) will be aiming to travel to all 92 Football League stadia and running 1km around each stadium. Averaging approximately 2,600 miles by car and running over 10km every day. We all met through football in the RAF whilst working in Cyprus and have wanted to do this challenge for a number of years. Now we are all back in the U.K. we feel there’s no time better than now.

In April 2020, after moving back home in Cheshire, my youngest son, Frankie was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Due to the nature of my work and commuting, my wife and I decided to relocate down to Oxfordshire near my job in the RAF.

The RAF Benevolent Fund provided help and financial support to make our move as stress free as possible and we’re forever grateful.

We would like to raise as much money as possible and all donations will be split 50/50 between the RAF Benevolent Fund and the National Autistic Society.

Being part of a family in the RAF comes with its challenges. Whether it’s a family member deploying overseas for several months, a short notice posting to a new location, integrating into new environments or missing important occasions (Xmas/Birthdays/Holdays etc…). Not to mention the worst case scenario of military life. The RAFBF provides excellent support to families in the RAF and with more support can continue to do so.

On a personal level, I can’t state enough how important Autism awareness is. Like most, I was uneducated on the subject before it became obvious that Frankie was showing signs and symptoms. Living with someone with autism is a challenge every day, however it’s no where near as difficult as it must be the the person him/herself. If we can raise some funds to provide support, and equally as important - raise awareness to just one person who doesn’t understand; then we know we’ve done our job.
