Academy of St Benedict-Opportunity

The Academy of St. Benedict the African is changing the face of South Chicago one family at a time by building community and giving hope for a better life for OUR children.    That is the daily task of St. Benedict that serves over 225 children (Pre-K through 8th Grade) in one of Chicago’s most challenged neighborhoods.  The school’s dedicated staff come from all over the country to take on a critical mission, providing opportunity to those children most disadvantaged in our society, and they amazingly undertake this for what amounts to a fraction of the monetary compensation they could receive elsewhere.

The cost per student at St. Benedict is just $4,500 per year, but this is simply an impossible sum for the vast majority of the families served by St. Benedict.  While all families make significant contributions to the cost of tuition through monthly payments, fund raising activities and volunteering, almost all students must rely on some level of support to attend what amounts to their best, and in many cases only, path to a bright future.

With common call from our latest generation for equal rights, safe spaces and an end to discrimination, what could be more obvious than to address the gross disparity in opportunity in our country.  Whether we are liberal, conservative, religious or agnostic, we share a joint goal, the welfare of our children: the children who are  nothing less than our shared future.  Please help us level the playing field for the most structurally disadvantaged among us by helping meet part of the funding need of one of OUR children.
