Javoen's research cost for Africa

Greetings everyone,
I was awarded the FLAS scholarship to travel to Nigeria for the summer and study the Yoruba language at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife. While I am excited for this trip, I am going to have to pay out of pocket for the plane ticket and a few other expenses that my school won't cover. I have traveled to Nigeria in the past and made it a point to utilize the different skills that I gain to work with children and young adults. Encouraging high self-esteem and cultural competency is a passion of mine. Since I was awarded the scholarship last month, (not including the plane ticket) I won't have enough time to save up for the necessary funds for the field research that is needed. This research will aid me in completing my master's thesis. My goal is $2,000 and anything helps, no matter how small. In addition to continuing grad school when I come back from the summer, I plan on continuing my work teaching Yoruba dance and drum in the community, and being a resource for populations that may not have the opportunity to experience this rich culture otherwise. I thank everyone for their consideration in advance.
Kindly,
Javoen Byrd
P.S. Here is the link to the FLAS fellowship that I have recieved if you would like to know more details.
