#DatFireWillRiseAgain: Rebuilding Atlanta’s Beloved Dat Fire Jerk Chicken

On Saturday, April 20, 2024, the unthinkable happened. Our flagship restaurant, Dat Fire Jerk Chicken (226 Northside Dr., Atlanta 30313) suffered significant damage due to an accidental fire. Fortunately, thanks to the swift action of emergency services, no one was hurt in the incident, but the devastation of a thriving dream burned down to piles of ash and rubble, is a painful reality that we are left to face. However, despite a situation that, under most circumstances, would break us, our spirit remains unbroken, and we are up for the challenge of rebuilding the dream, fueled by the support and love we continue to receive from each of you!

Dat Likkle Jamaican Spot off Northside…

Dat Fire Jerk Chicken first opened its doors in 2015. Thanks to the vision of Dat Fire owner, the celebrated Chef Jay John, Dat Fire was positioned right behind his alma mater, Clark Atlanta University, to serve as a go-to spot for students and the wider community.

Today, Dat Fire Jerk Chicken is known as Atlanta’s #1 award-winning destination for authentic Jamaican jerk in the heart of the city. What adds to its authenticity is its signature roadside dining aesthetic that one may experience when visiting Jamaica. From its custom grill and smoker to the nostalgic interior and the welcoming “come sit” spirit of the outdoor up-top lounge, Dat Fire is truly a gathering spot of both community and culture.

#DatFireWillRiseAgain… But We Need Your Help

Rebuilding Dat Fire is not just about bricks and mortar; it's about reviving a space where good vibes, good food and good people are served. The funds raised through this campaign, #DatFireWillRiseAgain, will be crucial in covering several key areas:

Rebuilding Efforts: Every dollar will bring us closer to restoring Dat Fire to its former glory, and perhaps making it even better.

Ghost Kitchen Rental: To keep serving and catering our delicious jerk chicken and other signature Caribbean staples on our menu, we need to rent a Ghost Kitchen in Atlanta. This will ensure that our operations continue smoothly until we can welcome you back at our original location.

Marketing for Grand Re-Opening: When we reopen, we want to celebrate the Dat Fire way! Your donations will not only support marketing efforts to spread the word of our grand reopening with the community that has stood by us, they will also support advertising efforts that will level up our visibility and success.

The Service Must Go On!

Ultimately, by supporting our #DatFireWillRiseAgain fundraising campaign, you are helping to sustain our business and our employees as we work to rebuild and restore Dat Fire Jerk Chicken. Our commitment to serving the Atlanta community remains unwavering; therefore, our food truck will remain fully operational during the reconstruction period.

We don’t see the food truck just as a temporary solution, but rather a vibrant extension of our restaurant’s spirit. It will follow a public schedule, which we will frequently update on our, ensuring that everyone knows where to find us. Additionally, the truck remains available for private bookings, catering to personal and corporate events, making it easier for our loyal customers to enjoy their favorite meals for any occasion.

This setback is temporary, and with your help, #DatFireWillRiseAgain!

We are overwhelmed by your love and support shown to us, from the moment our story hit the news to now, and ask you to join us in this critical phase. Your contributions mean the world to us and to the community we love serving, and we promise to keep you updated every step of the way.
